Driving culture forward

Every young person deserves the freedom to move forward safely and confidently - to travel to school, work, or family, and to build their future with pride.

At Community First Development, we’re proud to support Murri’s on the Move, a culturally grounded initiative that equips young people with the tools, skills, and confidence to get on the road safely.

Founded by proud First Nations woman Kerry Turner, Murri’s on the Move was born from a determination to break down barriers to licensing and road safety, providing culturally safe, empowering support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth.

This work is vital. Research shows Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are 20% less likely to hold a driver’s licence when eligible, 1.4 times more likely to experience serious road injuries, and 2.7 times more likely not to survive a road crash. These numbers reflect real barriers that limit opportunity, safety, and connection for young people.

Murri’s on the Move is more than a driving program - it’s a community-led response to the urgent need for safe, accessible, and empowering road education. Mentors don’t just teach driving skills, they offer guidance, encouragement, and connection that builds confidence both on and off the road.

When you give a gift to Community First Development, the impact travels far. You are supporting First Nations’ people, communities, and organisations like Murri’s on the Move to lead their own change - creating safer roads, stronger communities, and brighter futures for generations to come.

We couldn’t do this important work without you!
