Community First Development is a First Nations led community development and research organisation that creates positive change in and with First Nations communities. We undertake social and economic development, and research projects in partnership with First Nations communities, businesses and people. Communities have control; they name the priorities and choose the design, assets, capabilities and approach to achieve their vision. We provide tailored support through community partners, skilled staff, trained volunteers, supporters and service providers.

Reporting to the Finance and Operations Manager Community First Development is seeking to appoint a Finance and Operations Coordinator.  This role supports the Enabling Services and Supporter Engagement teams, ensuring accuracy of financial reporting, efficient budget management and compliance with regulatory authorities.  The coordinator actively contributes to audit and operations processes including overseeing IT, procurement and contract management and fosters collaboration across the organisation to enhance efficiency and innovation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee financial reporting, budget management, forecasting, and compliance within CFD policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

  • Provide analysis to management of any areas of concern or variances in budgets, reporting, and compliance, ensuring integrity.

  • Assist with audit preparation, including the preparation of general-purpose financial statements, liaising with auditors, and general enquiries in a prompt and thorough manner.

  • Implement and manage IT requirements, including Cyber Security Framework and contract management to reduce risk.

  • Provide support and guidance to the organisation on financial and operational matters to enable informed decision making and efficient management in a practical, supportive, and timely manner.

  • Manage and build strong partnerships with key stakeholders, collaborating in a professional and considered matter and contributing to the efficient, effective, and ethical use of resources.

  • Maintain workplace culture by respecting and demonstrating alignment with CFD’s values and adhering to the code of conduct and maintaining the highest standards of probity.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Minimum undergraduate qualification in accounting, finance, or related discipline, or equivalent qualification or 3 years’ experience operating in a similar role, preferably in a not-for-profit organisation.

  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with staff, management, and stakeholders.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft products and financial applications relevant to the role, with the ability to learn and integrate new technology.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritise multiple tasks and resources to meet deadlines.

  • Emotional intelligence demonstrated by strong communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
