2021 brings many exciting opportunities for us

We want to see our communities continue to thrive and shine in 2021!

Our Elders, leaders, youth and community members continue to lead the way in overcoming barriers, successful community development activities and building stronger partnerships. We understand the challenges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people face in communities. We are also fortunate enough to learn about many community goals and ambitions.

This year, we will be focusing on our newly established strategic priorities:

  • Thriving communities

  • Action Learning

  • Influence policy

  • Grow

Each priority has its own significance and important role within our organisation. You can read more here.

As we start a new year, many of us turn our minds to different ways we can learn and grow.

For us, our commitment to Action Learning translates into learning together with communities as well as advancing our staff’s learning capabilities in and out of the classroom.

Our commitment to strengthening outcomes with communities

As part of our commitment to action learning and strengthening outcomes with communities, we established a six-weekly ‘Community of Practice’ involving staff from our Impact and Strategy and Community Development teams.

The yarning-based sessions aim to facilitate a learning environment where staff support each other to undertake high quality community development, including monitoring and evaluation. The main goal is to improve outcomes for the communities we work with through regular reflection and shared learning.

Our Community of Practice has evolved substantially over the last year. We will continue to build on the strength of the group to achieve continual improvement in our practice.

Innovation and Learning

This year, our staff are bringing new skills and knowledge to our work practices!

Creating an environment where our staff are confident in developing their skills and building on their strengths is important to us.

Some of our team have achieved significant milestones in their learning endeavours, which also aligned with their work practices in 2020. We will be sharing some of these stories on our social media channels over the coming month.

We look forward to connecting with you this year and

welcome you to follow along for these stories, and more, on our social media channels below.
