Kurrawang is a self-governing Aboriginal community in WA. We’ve had the pleasure of working on a number of projects with the people of Kurrawang since 2013.

We were thrilled to be approached by Kurrawang leaders for support when they set out to create a new space for sports and activities by upgrading their playground and community facilities. Their hope was to be able to invite other community organisations to hold sporting competitions at Kurrawang.

In the project planning stage, Kurrawang had good headway consulting with community members, outlining the concept design and budget breakdown, pulling together initial blueprints, and submitting funding applications. Once funding was secured, it was exciting to see the project move to the implementation phase – making the community’s dream of a new playground and sports courts feel closer to reality.

Our experienced project development volunteer, Geoff, travelled to Kurrawang and met with the community as well as the contractors who quoted on the project. Geoff assisted Kurrawang’s directors and staff to project manage the implementation phase of the recreation facilities plan. This included understanding contract management, developing project management timelines, ensuring site access, and preparations prior to work commencing.

Geoff continued to work with Kurrawang, liaising with contractors and community members until the project was fully implemented - to ensure the community was supported throughout the whole process.

We are thrilled to show you the new playground and sports courts facilities – now complete and ready for community use.
