Yurbay Bush Medicine

Through his workshops, Adam shares the deep tradition of Aboriginal plant knowledge.

Yurbay Bush Medicine in Dubbo, New South Wales, was founded in 2018 by proud Wiradjuri man Adam Shipp.

Yurbay Bush Medicine shares the power of traditional plant medicine through cultural education, expert consultations, and design services. Adam works with individuals and communities to help integrate Aboriginal cultural knowledge into their own projects, planting not only native species but using sacred ways to plant seeds to strengthen healing and culture.

“Yurbay brings the passion of traditional Aboriginal plant use, healing, country and culture to the heart of what we do. Pronounced ‘You ra by’ - Yurbay is one of the Wiradjuri language words for ‘seed.’ We chose this name to exemplify not only our love of plants, but the endless opportunity for growth through resilience and strength. We plant seeds with hope, optimism and to bring abundance for our families and community,” Adam Shipp, founder of Yurbay Bush Medicine.

Adam’s passion for Country and culture has grown into a thriving bushfoods enterprise, creating opportunities for community through the collection, packaging, and sharing of native plants and their stories. To support his vision and increase visibility, Adam invited Community First Development to assist with developing Yurbay’s online presence. Senior Community Development Officer Ruth connected Adam with skilled Volunteer Vasu whose web expertise was just what Adam was looking for. Together, Adam and Vasu created a professional, user-friendly website that reflects Yurbay’s values and services, a space that honours culture and invites others to learn, grow, and connect.

The new website enhances Yurbay’s ability to share cultural knowledge with a wider audience and open doors to new partnerships and opportunities. It lays a strong foundation for the enterprise’s continued growth and community impact.
